Knights Rally For Late Win Over Cubs
The Charlotte Knights stopped the Chicago Cubs, 6-4, behind an impressive performance from Jason Giambi. The former first round draft pick made life miserable for Chicago pitching. He was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. David Wells earned the win for Charlotte. He lasted 7 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 4-2. Steve Shirley nailed down his 8th save.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Tony Batista came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Chicago pitcher Mike Dunne, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a 2-run home run. It was a game-changer, putting Charlotte on top, 6-4.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Batista told the Charlotte Bulletin.

The Cubs, at 19-35, have lost 4 straight games.
