Getting a good performance from designated hitter Bobby Abreu, the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Orlando Devil Rays, 8-7. Abreu hit 2 home runs for the Phillies. Philadelphia reliever Nelson Cruz picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-1. Xavier Hernandez was collared with the loss. Philadelphia now sits in 4th place in the Federal League East Division at 26-31.

It could have been a different outcome for Philadelphia, had it not been for Travis Fryman, the two-time All-Star . Fryman contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put Philadelphia up, 8-7.

In postgame comments to the Philadelphia Observer, Fryman said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
