Devil Rays Turn Back Cleveland, 5-3
The Cleveland Spiders and Orlando Devil Rays cranked it up at League Park.

With center fielder Kenny Lofton leading the charge, the Orlando Devil Rays defeated the Cleveland Spiders, 5-3, at League Park. Lofton, who finished 4th in the UL in runs with 109 in 1992, went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Don Schulze picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Tommy Greene was tagged with the loss. Alan Embree notched his 7th save in 9 chances.

Lofton had a critical at-bat in the top of the seventh for Orlando, coming through with a 3-run home run to put Orlando in front, 4-3.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Lofton told the Orlando Daily News.

The third-place Devil Rays improved to 32-28.
