Cardinals Get Road Win, 5-4
|
The St. Louis Cardinals topped the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-4, in Federal League action at Yankee Stadium. The player of the game was St. Louis pitcher and Long Beach, California native Scott Erickson. Erickson picked up the win for St. Louis, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 2-4. Picking up the save was Mariano Rivera, his 7th.
St. Louis relied on the hitting of Eric Karros to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cardinals on top, 5-1. For the game, Karros had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"The vibe's good," said St. Louis manager Adam Rabel. "We've got to keep it going."
