Royals Beat Visiting Spiders, 7-1
It was a fun time at Royals Stadium, where the Cleveland Spiders and Kansas City Royals tangled.

The Kansas City Royals racked up a win at Royals Stadium, bumping off the Cleveland Spiders, 7-1. Justin Thompson, who started for Kansas City, pitched effectively for his team. Thompson, the winner, moves to 7-3. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 5 walks. Gregg Olson notched his 2nd save in 3 chances.

The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the fifth inning, but Thompson was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Cleveland trailing 2-1, Thompson retired Bernard Gilkey, who struck out.

The Royals bumped their record to 41-24 with this latest triumph.
