Starting pitcher Kevin Appier pitched well enough to help the Florida Marlins beat the Kansas City Royals by the score of 5-3. Florida reliever Paul Shuey was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Gregg Olson took the loss. Bryan Harvey recorded the save for Florida, his 2nd of the season.
