Mets Slip Past Oakland, 2-1
The New York Mets got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jason Isringhausen, who stifled the Oakland offense en route to a 2-1 Mets win at Shea Stadium. New York reliever Darren Holmes got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Tim Crabtree was tagged with the loss. The third-place Mets have won 5 in a row.

B.J. Surhoff was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mets designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Isringhausen said.
