The Minnesota Twins wasted an inspired, 7-inning effort from starter Juan Guzman, falling 2-0 to the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Scott Chiamparino, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 3 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 4-7. The current losing streak for Minnesota has reached 4 games.

The Cubs got a big at-bat from first baseman Don Mattingly. For the game, Mattingly went 1 for 3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Chicago a 1-0 lead.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Mattingly.
