Behind the bravura of designated hitter Phil Plantier, the Kansas City Royals topped the Charlotte Knights by the score of 11-2. Plantier went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 6 runs and scored once for the Royals. At 44-26, the Royals are currently second in the Federal League Central Division.

With Kansas City leading 3-0 in the bottom of the seventh, Plantier hit a changeup from David Wells for a grand slam home run. It was his 18th home run of the season and put the Royals ahead, 7-0.

"Enjoyed this one," Plantier told the Kansas City Today. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
