Twins Get Road Win, 7-2
|
Minnesota Twins starter Steve Parris was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Chicago Cubs, 7-2. Parris, now 3-7, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 11, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Minnesota now sits at 31-38, while Chicago falls to 26-44.
Minnesota used the timely hitting of Koji Akiyama to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Twins on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Parris. "Successful pitchers do it."
