Cardinals Subdue Chicago, 6-4
|
The St. Louis Cardinals bested the Chicago Cubs, 6-4, at Wrigley Field. Karim Garcia was named player of the game. He went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Steve Chitren was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 12 of 16 save opportunities. After today's action, St. Louis sits at 36-37, while Chicago falls to 27-46.
It could have been a different outcome for St. Louis, had it not been for Stan Javier, the 14-year veteran . Javier contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put St. Louis up, 6-4.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Garcia.
