Twins Sneak Past Spiders, 9-8
|
The Minnesota Twins stopped the Cleveland Spiders, 9-8, behind an impressive performance from Larry Walker. The top prospect made life miserable for Cleveland pitching. He was 4 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Minnesota, at 34-39, sits in 5th place in the Federal League Central Division.
Mark Grudzielanek was the walk-off hero for Minnesota. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Twins second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"This place sure got loud," said Darren Fischbach, the Minnesota manager.
