Orioles Turn Back Angels, 4-2
Baltimore Orioles starter Ramon J. Martinez pitched effectively against the Las Vegas Angels at Kingdome. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 4-2 win. Martinez went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-8. Even with the win, the Orioles have a dismal 15-59 record.

Baltimore used the timely hitting of Jeff Kunkel to capture the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Orioles on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Kunkel, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
