Twins Edge Spiders, 5-4
|
Cleveland center fielder Jermaine Allensworth had a good game, even if his team did not. The Spiders dropped a 5-4 decision to Minnesota at Metrodome. Allensworth was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Darren Oliver picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 5-8. Rob Dibble was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 9 save opportunities.
Kal Daniels, who led the FL in stolen bases with 84 in 1993, aided the Minnesota cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the second. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times.
"It was a good effort all around," said Daniels.
Minnesota now has a 3-game win streak.
