Rockies Fall to .500 After Loss to Blue Jays
|
Toronto and Colorado duked it out at Mile High Stadium and the Blue Jays came out victorious.
The Toronto Blue Jays topped the Colorado Rockies by the score of 9-6, with the largest share of the credit going to center fielder Darrin Jackson. Jackson was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Blue Jays. Hipolito Pichardo picked up the win with 7.1 innings of work. He allowed 5 earned runs on 7 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 11-3. Matt Mantei converted his 4th save in 4 tries.
Toronto used the timely hitting of Joe Oliver to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We came out aggressive," said Blue Jays manager Jose Mata. "We came out swinging the bats."
Toronto is now riding a 3-game win streak.
