5 Straight Wins for Reds
Cincinnati Reds starter Jim Abbott was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Chicago Cubs, 7-2. Abbott, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 12 and giving up 5 walks. The Reds, now 49-29, have won 5 in a row.

Scott Spiezio had a big run-scoring double for the Reds in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Cincinnati leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Mike Dunne and stroked the double to right-center. It was his 15th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Reds ahead, 2-0.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Spiezio, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
