Royals Beat Visiting Cubs, 4-2
|
The Kansas City Royals got a strong performance from pitcher Rick Reed, who stymied the Chicago offense en route to a 4-2 win at Royals Stadium. Reed went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 10-3. The last-place Cubs have dropped 9 straight games.
The Royals benefited from an error in the bottom of the second inning. Kansas City was leading 1-0 when Reggie L. Sanders hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Kansas City in front, 2-0.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Chicago manager Anthony Perez.
