Blue Jays Squelch Expos Offense in Shutout Win
Toronto right-hander Hipolito Pichardo pitched his team to victory over the Montreal Expos at SkyDome. The final score was 3-0. Pichardo picked up the win for Toronto, going 7.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 12-3. Ramon Pena converted his 1st save in 1 tries.

The outcome was still in doubt in the top of the eighth inning. With runners on 1st and 3rd and Montreal trailing 1-0, Ramon Pena needed to get a big out. On a first pitch curveball, Gregg Jefferies, who finished 2nd in the UL in stolen bases with 72 in 1993, flied out, putting the kibosh on a potential rally.

The Blue Jays bumped their record to 43-38 with this latest triumph.
