Cabrera Lifts Phillies to 8-4 Win
|
The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Chicago Cubs, 8-4, at Wrigley Field. Orlando Cabrera was named player of the game for Philadelphia. His 3 hits included 1 single and 2 doubles, in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 3 he knocked in. German Jimenez earned the save for Philadelphia, his 1st. With the loss, Chicago is 3-6.
In the top of the seventh inning of a 4-4 tie, Philadelphia right fielder Bobby Abreu hit a run-scoring single. It broke the deadlock and put Philadelphia on top, 5-4.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Abreu told a Philadelphia Observer reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
