Multi-HR Day for Davis as Rockies Overpower Diamondbacks, 10-6
|
Colorado right fielder Eric Davis made his presence felt in the 10-6 Rockies triumph over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Davis went 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Chris Nabholz got credit for the win, improving to 9-5. He allowed 6 runs on 10 hits in 7 innings. Steve Karsay got the save, his 1st in 1 chances.
Colorado used the timely hitting of Steve Gibralter to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rockies on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
"If it's down the middle," said Davis, "you might as well hit it."
Today's win puts Colorado at 40-41, while Arizona falls to 45-36.
