Branyan Delivers Walk-Off Win for Royals
|
The Kansas City Royals defeated the Minnesota Twins, 9-8. Earning player of the game honors was designated hitter Phil Plantier, who went 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Kansas City reliever Rod Beck got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Trevor Hoffman was tagged with the loss. The second-place Royals have won 4 straight games.
Russell Branyan, who is rated as the 48th best prospect by BNN, chipped in for Kansas City with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the tenth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Branyan.
