Arizona Trades Greer for Milwaukee's Finley
Tuesday, April 14th, 1998
The Arizona Diamondbacks and Milwaukee Creams have put the finishing touches on a deal that was weeks in the making. Arizona will part with 31-year-old minor league CF Tony Barron, 23-year-old minor league 3B Freddy F Garcia and 29-year-old minor league LF Rusty Greer, while the Creams have dealt 33-year-old RF Steve Finley, 26-year-old minor league LHP Allen McDill and 22-year-old minor league RHP John LeRoy.
"This one took a while to figure out," said Arizona general manager Alen Maglajac. "We must have gone back to the drawing board five or six times over the past few weeks. I'm glad we finally got the deal done. I think it is a good one for both clubs."
In his career Greer has played in 284 games with a .232 batting average. Among his 226 hits are 50 doubles, 5 triples, and 29 home runs. He also has scored 97 runs, walked 106 times, has no stolen bases and driven in 105 runs.
This season Finley is hitting .106 with 5 hits, no home runs, 1 RBIs, scored 1 run and played in 14 games.
