Al Leiter Out for 4 Months
Wednesday, May 6th, 1998
Orlando fans will be disappointed to learn that Al Leiter suffered a torn meniscus while throwing a pitch in today's game. After the doctor informed the Orlando Devil Rays manager that Leiter was expected to miss 4 months, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the starting pitcher could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
So far this season Leiter has a 1-2 record, 7 starts, 41.1 innings, 41 strikeouts and a 3.05 ERA.
