Merced FL's Best of the Week Monday, May 11th, 1998 At the age of 31, Orlando Merced might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Charlotte right fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .417 batting average. For his efforts Merced collected the Federal League Player of the Week Award. He racked up 10 hits in 24 at-bats, 2 home runs and 6 RBIs last week in 6 games. So far this year in 37 games Merced is hitting .212 with 4 home runs, 16 RBIs and 24 runs scored. |
