Cleveland Spiders Ship Spiers to Los Angeles

It's all done except the paperwork. The Cleveland Spiders and the Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a trade that will send 31-year-old 2B Bill Spiers, 32-year-old RHP Julio Machado and 28-year-old minor league LF Jon Zuber to Los Angeles, while 21-year-old minor league LHP Dennys Reyes and 23-year-old minor league RF Damon Hollins will be shipped to Cleveland. A top front office executive with the Spiders described the trade talks as "quick and easy." "We're glad to get this deal done. We think it's something that helps our ball club and it didn't take too long at all to sort this one out," he said.
Spiers is hitting at a .310 mark this season. His stats show 2 home runs, 14 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has played 39 games for the Lazy Fisherman.
