Higginson Crashes 3 HR Against Kansas City
Tuesday, May 19th, 1998
Bobby Higginson went on an explosive hitting spree against the Kansas City Royals at Royals Stadium today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the Cincinnati Reds to the 12-3 win.
The left fielder finished 3-for-5 with 3 runs scored and 4 runs batted in.
"It was just one of those days," Higginson said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball."
Kansas City skipper Daniel Drucker said Higginson was "locked-in."
"We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him."
Bobby Higginson hit a solo-shot off Rheal Cormier in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Steve Woodard in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Rod Beck in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
Higginson is currently batting .326 with 18 home runs, 48 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 58 hits in 178 at-bats.
