Grieve Touches All Bases, Hits for Cycle Thursday, May 21st, 1998 Some days everything just falls in place. It all came together for Ben Grieve and the Detroit Tigers today at Oakland Coliseum. The Tigers went home winners and the left fielder had a 4-for-5 day that included the cycle, a baseball rarity. "He sure was a wrecking ball today," said Detroit manager Julio Izquierdo following his club's 7-4 taming of the Oakland Athletics. Ben Grieve singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Erik Hanson in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
