May's Top Starter Named in UL Monday, June 1st, 1998 Pedro Martinez's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-1 in May, the 26-year-old Montreal hurler has been named United League Pitcher of the Month. He fanned 77 in 44.2 innings, logged an ERA of 1.61 and allowed opponents to hit .113 against him. This season-to-date Martinez has 7 wins and 3 losses and a 2.19 ERA. |
