Red-Hot Giles Scorches Twins Monday, June 1st, 1998 At Metrodome today, Brian S Giles of the St. Louis Cardinals put on a hitting clinic. He banged out 5 hits in 7 at-bats and mauled the Minnesota Twins pitching staff, but St. Louis still came up short on the scoreboard. The Cardinals went home with the 7-6 loss, in spite of a standout 5-hit performance from their right fielder. "Hey, it's great to get that many hits in a game, but it would have been nice to win the game, too," Giles said in the postgame interview. Brian S Giles singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off John Rocker in the 7th, struck out in the 10th, doubled in the 12th and doubled in the 14th.
