Thome Gets 300th Home Run Monday, July 6th, 1998 Kansas City's outstanding first baseman Jim Thome joined the 300 home run club today at Metrodome with a booming blast in the Royals win over the Twins. They topped Minnesota 15-2. On his milestone day Thome had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 4 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Tongue-in-cheek he told the press, "Don't tell me when I get close to the next milestone. Just tell me after I reach it. It will be easier to hit that way." A check of his lifetime stats shows Thome has a career .259 average with 914 hits, 148 doubles, 20 triples, 300 home runs and 738 RBIs. To date he has scored 686 runs, walked 692 times and stolen 12 bases. View Boxscore View Game Log |
