Deal: for Eto
Friday, July 31st, 1998
Sometimes a change of scenery can be a beneficial to a baseball player. That is the hope in Cincinnati and Boston as the teams came to an agreement today which sends nothing to the Red Sox and 28-year-old minor league 2B Akira Eto and 41-year-old minor league LHP Frank DiPino to the Reds. "Only time will tell if this is the right move for everyone," stated the Boston GM.
In his stats this season, Eto has posted a batting average of .181 with 17 hits in 94 at-bats, 7 home runs and 14 RBIs. He has also scored 14 runs, walked 19 times and compiled a .313 OBP.
