Federal League Names Rookie of Month Saturday, August 1st, 1998 Russell Branyan is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Federal League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers. In July the Kansas City hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .308 average with 20 hits, 11 home runs and 18 RBIs. In 37 games this season Branyan has batted at a .262 pace with 33 hits and 16 home runs. |
