Eshelman Pitches Shutout
Tuesday, August 18th, 1998
Today was Vaughn Eshelman's turn in the rotation for the Detroit Tigers and he made the most of it, shutting out the Baltimore Orioles on 5 hits.

The 29-year-old left-hander led the Tigers to an easy 7-0 victory, allowing 1 walk and tallying 5 strikeouts.

"I hope we miss him next time," Baltimore manager said. "Eshelman certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."

Over the season Eshelman has thrown 165.1 innings and dished out 103 strikeouts with a 7-10 mark and a 4.25 ERA.
