Swamp Foxes End Renteria's Streak Tuesday, April 21st, 1998 Edgar Renteria, third baseman for the Danville Dairy Daddies, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 4 tries against the Savannah Swamp Foxes today. Not only did the Swamp Foxes break his 21-game hitting streak, they also beat Danville by the score of 6-3. "Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Renteria said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate." In his season totals, Renteria has 4 home runs, .403 BA, .440 OBP, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored. He has played in 16 games. |
