Fonville Runs Hit String to 25 Straight Games Friday, April 24th, 1998 With 2 hits at Premont Grounds today, Chad Fonville added another game to his hitting streak -- the Tacoma shortstop has now hit safely for 25 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Rainiers today, as they fell, 5-3, to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. "Frankly, I don't care about hits," Colorado Springs manager said later. "I'll let him get 5 hits in 5 at-bats if it means we get a win." Chad Fonville flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. This year Fonville has hit at a .355 clip with 38 hits, 1 home run, 5 RBIs and 17 runs scored. |
