Hits Galore: Gipson Drills 5 Hits Monday, April 27th, 1998 Charles Gipson exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Ballpark of Fremont. The Ocean City center fielder had a field day in the 15-3 triumph over the Brooklyn Cyclones, finishing 5-for-6. "My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Gipson must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Charles Gipson singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
