Rochester Dazed, Estes Gets No-Hitter Wednesday, April 29th, 1998 Is it better to be lucky or good? After leading the Hartford Whalers to victory, 7-0, and tossing a no-hitter over the Rochester Red Wings, Shawn Estes didn't have the answer. "I don't know," Estes said. "To do what I did today, I'm pretty sure it takes both." On his big day at Wolves Ballpark, Estes fanned 11 and had 1 walk. And it seemed that when the Red Wings managed to hit the ball hard, it went right at a defender. "That's how you get a no-hitter," Estes said with a smile. "A lot of skill mixed with a little luck." Estes has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 4-2 record with a 3.55 ERA.
