Tarantulas Chill Brown's Hot Streak
Tuesday, June 2nd, 1998
Salt Lake City right fielder Emil Brown came into today's game against the Tucson Tarantulas on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.

The Tarantulas did their jobs well, beating the Salt Lake City Buzz 7-1 and holding Brown hitless to snap his 23-game hitting streak. The 23-year-old right fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short."

"What Emil did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Buzz manager . "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 23 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

This season Brown is batting .350 with 8 home runs. His totals include 36 RBIs and 41 runs scored.
