Streak Finally Over, Shipley Held Hitless
Saturday, June 27th, 1998
Ocean City third baseman Craig Shipley experienced something against the Columbus Clippers he hadn't experienced a while: a hitless game.

The Clippers pitching corps quieted his hot bat and snapped his streak at 23 games, but his teammates picked up the slack to lead the Blue Crabs to a 5-2 victory at Fire Dogs Ballpark.

"Hey, ain't nothin' bad about a losing a 23-game hitting streak," Shipley joked with reporters after the game. "Now you guys will have to find someone else to bother for stories."

This year Shipley has socked 40 hits in 106 at-bats for a .377 average with 7 home runs. He is getting on base at a .417 pace and his totals also include 21 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
