Luke Torches Rainiers for 5 Hits Thursday, July 2nd, 1998 It seemed that Naperville left fielder Matt Luke could do no wrong as the Lazy Fisherman KO'd the Rainiers, 22-6 today. Luke rapped out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and seemed to know which pitches Rainiers hurlers were throwing. "I think the Lazy Fisherman were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Tacoma fan after the game. "I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Luke in the postgame press interview. Matt Luke doubled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Brian Rose in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 8th. This season Luke has hit at a .267 clip and produced 58 RBI, 19 home runs and 46 runs. View Boxscore View Game Log |
