Ramirez 5-for-5 for Red Wings Saturday, July 4th, 1998 Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Aramis Ramirez said his club's tilt with the Ocean City Blue Crabs "felt almost like batting practice." The 20-year-old third baseman went a remarkable 5-for-5 at the plate. "I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later. However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Rochester Red Wings, who were topped by the Blue Crabs, 27-11. "It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Red Wings manager said. "Sometimes Aramis is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-5 and lose than go 0-for-5 and lose." Aramis Ramirez hit a solo-shot off Darrell May in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, walked in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and hit an RBI double in the 9th. So far this season Ramirez has gotten 95 hits in 316 at-bats for a .301 batting average with 14 home runs. His stats include 63 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has played in 86 games.
