5 Hits for Clippers Haney Friday, July 10th, 1998 The Columbus Clippers stopped the Bluff City Beasties by a score of 10-2 at Ravens Ballpark today, with the lion's share of the credit going to second baseman Carter Haney. The 24-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Haney said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Haney did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Beasties. "Not much that I can say," offered Bluff City manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us." Carter Haney singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Nate Minchey in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 9th. For the year Haney is batting .280 with 5 home runs. View Boxscore View Game Log |
