Suns End Konerko's Streak Saturday, July 11th, 1998 The Danville Dairy Daddies lost to the Jacksonville Suns 3-2 today at Field of the Running Rebels, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Paul Konerko's 20-game hitting streak. The first baseman went 0-for-5 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Konerko, we would win the game," Suns manager explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." In 82 games this season Konerko is batting .380 with 125 hits and 24 home runs. He has scored 79 runs and driven in 104. |
