5-Hit Game for Sojo Saturday, August 1st, 1998 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Luis Sojo, it came around today. The 33-year-old second baseman scattered hits all over Aspinwall Grounds to pace the Hartford Whalers to a 16-4 victory over the Buffalo Bisons. Buffalo skipper told reporters in the press room that "Sojo deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Sojo hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Luis Sojo hit a solo-shot off Bruce Chen in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Jay Canizaro in the 8th and singled in the 9th. To date this year Sojo is batting .311 with 7 home runs. View Boxscore View Game Log |
