Hollins Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits Monday, August 3rd, 1998 After a 5-hit effort to lead Asheville's 20-14 victory over the Bluff City Beasties, right fielder Damon Hollins told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the Hugg Baseball League-level is really something special." The 24-year-old player earned his accolades today at Ravens Ballpark with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Beasties. "His swing is getting there," said Moonshiners skipper , who spoke glowingly of Hollins after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Damon did that to perfection today." Damon Hollins hit a three-run home run off Scott Karl in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and singled in the 9th. To date Hollins has chalked up a .291 average with 19 home runs, driven in 81 runs and scored 64 times. View Boxscore View Game Log |
