Great Day for White, Hits for Cycle Monday, August 10th, 1998 In an outing that will go down in the annals of baseball history, Spokane center fielder Devon White hit for the cycle today as the River Rats marched to victory over the Naperville Lazy Fisherman, 13-5. White collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, including 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. He added 1 run batted in and 4 runs scored to help Spokane take the Ballpark of Milton contest. "It was the last thing on my mind, really," White said. "I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Even if I had wanted to, hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill anyway." Devon White hit a solo-shot off Masato Yoshii in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, walked in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and tripled in the 9th. On the season, White is batting .265 with 14 home runs and 56 RBIs. He has played in 117 games. View Boxscore View Game Log |
