Orioles Losing Streak at 9 After Extra-Inning Loss to Blue Jays
|
Toronto beat Baltimore at Memorial Stadium, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Melido Perez, who earned player of the game honors. Toronto reliever David West got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Bryan Hickerson was tagged with the loss. The losses continue to pile up for Baltimore, which has now fallen 9 times in a row.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Bill R Mueller came to bat in the top of the 12th. Facing Baltimore pitcher Bryan Hickerson, he hit a 1-2 changeup for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Toronto on top, 5-4.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Mueller.
