Walk-Off Victory for Spiders Takes Record to 40-64
The Cleveland Spiders knocked off the St. Louis Cardinals, 11-10, at League Park. Howard Johnson, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Cleveland won. The first baseman went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. With the win, Cleveland goes to 40-64, while the Cardinals fall to 52-52.

Johnson contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Cleveland in the bottom of the ninth. With his team trailing 10-7, Johnson took a fastball from Randy Myers and stroked the home run to left. His 24th home run of the season allowed the Spiders to leap in front, 11-10.

"This wasn't a good win," said Johnson. "It was a great win."
