Red Sox Drop Another One
The St. Louis Cardinals topped the Boston Red Sox, 9-5, in Federal League action at Fenway Park. The player of the game was St. Louis pitcher Scott Erickson. The winning pitcher was Erickson, now 6-7. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Joey Eischen, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.

In the top of the first, Brian S Giles ambushed a first pitch slider from Marty Bystrom and hit a 2-run home run. It gave St. Louis a quick 2-0 lead.

"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Boston manager Brett Williams.
