Red Sox Raise Rally Flag, Beat Minnesota, 4-1
The Red Sox had to overcome a good performance from Minnesota pitcher Darren Oliver to claim a 4-1 win at Fenway Park. Oliver went 5 innings and allowed no earned runs. Boston reliever Matt Perisho picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. John Rocker took the loss. Even with the win, the Red Sox have a dismal 38-77 record.

Had Miguel Mejia not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Mejia hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score 4-1, in favor of the Red Sox.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Mejia, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
